Is this an auction first? Pavements Under The Hammer!

When it comes to properties for sale at auction, you can bet you’ll find something different to what you normally see in an estate agents’ window. Churches and factory sites, water towers and fields are par for the course in a typical auction catalogue. But Network Auctions’ forthcoming February sale includes a lot which is strange even for the auction room – pavements. Pavements adjacent to a parade of commercial properties in Sidcup, Kent with a guide price of £1000+.

The lot being sold under the hammer at The Westbury Mayfair Hotel on 20th February, is described in the auction catalogue as ‘Three separate titles of freehold land equivalent to 2.41 acres including pavements adjacent to a parade of commercial properties, highways, verges and land parcels with potential.’ The pavements, situated at Station Road, extend approximately 158 ft x 11 ft. The lot also includes two further titles situated in residential roads, verges and various other parcels with potential for a variety of uses subject to planning.

Toby Limbrick, director, said, ‘This is the first time we’ve sold pavements under the hammer. It’s a unique lot which I’m sure will appeal to a savvy investor. Auction bidders are well equipped at seeking out opportunities most other people would pass by.’

Network Auctions forthcoming auction also includes the sale of a landmark seafront 1.15-acre site in Lynmouth, Devon and a freehold block of 13 x 1 bedroom flats and 7 x studio flats in Plymouth, being sold on behalf of a Housing Association.

Toby Limbrick, said, ‘Auctions are a great place to pick up properties which offer something different. We do also sell your normal houses and flats you’d find with an estate agent, but sometimes when a project needs work, or the value is quite hard to define, then auction is the way to go as the market dictates the price.’

Network Auctions sale will take place on the 20th February at The Westbury Mayfair Hotel, London. For more information: www.networkauctions.co.uk
